fonts.com

This site has an interesting article on the basics of typeface legibility in "type 101" under the "Learn about type" section. The rest of the site offers font related services and information.

Angles and recognition

Grigori Evreinov discovered that aside from horizontal and vertical features which have been proven to aid recognition, there are other angles that the mind can use to recognize shapes. He created a new typeface based on his discovery with figures set along eight directions, and it has been shown to function as legible type among those who are used to it.

What is a Sharpie? What can it do?

This lady is pretty cool. I find it amazing what people can do with Sharpies! It is a Youtube video, but sound is not needed. I am also trying to locate the Lambo (I think) that is completely covered in Sharpie designs. I feel it may be a waste of such a car, but it is still pretty cool.

Web Design Fail: Microsoft VS. Microsoft Poland

Microsoft gets a lot of crap for their craftsmanship and ethics (and poor design sense), especially after the Get A Mac ads on TV, but there is some quality work bearing their name. For example, Microsoft's Business homepage for English-speaking nations, Microsoft.com/businessproductivity/default.mspx . However, look at what this turned in to for the same page for Poland: Microsoft.com/poland/businessproductivity/default.mspx. For a multi-billion dollar company, you think they would be able to invest enough money to make sure their page looks professional.

And they wonder why they look bad right now...

A little gross, but still interesting!

While I was searching for images of Ed's silhouette ideas, I found the website. There are some nice photos of snails, and many many varieties.......

If I wasn't afraid of trouble.....

I found this site while reading a book on art styles and design. It is a little difficult to navigate, but it has endless items to view. The site focuses on different regions of the country/cities and what types of graffiti are found within them. What is really fascinating to me are some of the letter forms that are created.
