Grigori Evreinov discovered that aside from horizontal and vertical features which have been proven to aid recognition, there are other angles that the mind can use to recognize shapes. He created a new typeface based on his discovery with figures set along eight directions, and it has been shown to function as legible type among those who are used to it.
